To navigate to the penalties screen, push the ‘Menu’ button. The ‘Menu’ button is the middle button on the left side. The penalties screen will have four options:
Lost Ball – Top left button
Drop – Top right button
Provisional – Bottom left button
Penalty – Bottom right button
What penalty option should I use?
The lost ball option should be used when you have lost your ball or hit a shot out of bounds. This will automatically add a penalty stroke to your data. The watch will know you are now playing another shot from the same location. The screen will show the text ‘Recorded’ to indicate that the button press was successful. The watch will return to the front/middle/back screen.
The drop option should be used when you have taken a penalty drop, you should record this at the location of where you decide to the drop rather than at the location of the next shot. This will automatically add a penalty shot to your score and tell the watch that the next shot hit isn’t where the last shot ended but in fact where you are hitting the next shot from. This could be after hitting the ball into a water hazard or finding your ball in an unplayable lie. The screen will show the text ‘Recorded’ to indicate that the button press was successful, then the watch will return to the front/middle/back screen.
The ‘prov’ option should be used if you play a provisional ball from any location on the course. Press the ‘prov’ button before you play your provisional ball. This will let the system know that you have played a shot and then played another shot as a provisional from the same location. The screen will change to ask you the question “Lost Ball?” and will give you the ability to run a five minute timer by pressing the stopwatch icon when you start looking for your ball. After you have looked for your ball you should answer the “Lost Ball?” question, if you answer ‘Yes’ the watch will automatically add a penalty stroke, confirming that the shot hit after the ‘Prov’ button push is a counting shot hit to wherever the next shot is played from. If the answer is ‘No’ the watch will not add a penalty stroke and will remove the provisional shot hit as a counting shot. The screen will show ‘Updated’ after you have answered the lost ball question and then return to the front/middle/back screen.
The penalty option should be used when a one stroke or a two-stroke penalty occurs, these are penalties such as being late for a tee time or the ball striking you etc. One press of the button will record one penalty so to record two penalties or more you must return to the penalties screen and press ‘penalty’ again. Once ‘penalty’ has been selected the screen will show ‘Recorded’ then return to the front/middle/back screen.
