V3 firmware update freeze error

My issue is that I cannot get the watch to the OFF state. After firmware update, the watch automatically reset, and has been displaying the V3 logo for 18 hours. No amount of button pressing and holding changes this state. If I let the battery run down completely, then of course I cannot do firmware update. So I must then charge it. But then I fear that it will simply go back to the V3 logo again -- never to the OFF state.

How do I turn the watch OFF, so that I can follow these instructions?

To turn the device off, hold the top left button for 13 seconds.

OK, I found in another issue thread the trick to hold the upper-left button for 15-20 seconds. That worked! (It would have been most helpful to include that essential step in the instructions here.) But alas, my first few attempts following the firmware revert procedure did nothing.

Question: Is there any visual feedback if the 40-second revert step is successful? Or must we attempt and fail the Connect Band step from the phone app to learn that it failed?

Yes, I see that it is 13 seconds to turn the device off.

I followed the instructions, but failed every time I tried. About the 40 seconds hold time: Do I need to release the bottom buttons after exactly 40 seconds, or should I notice any indication on the screen, when the reset takes place? - Because I held it for more than a minute, without any effect.

I gave the device a fresh charge, and then the revert procedure worked! The display changed while the lower buttons were depressed. Now to try to connect and update again.

Success! My device is now running firmware 2.2.76.

Ed, thanks for sharing your experience and for adding something should change after the button holding. I'm having the same problem. Will try the charging and re-attempt. Fingers crossed...

Thanks Ed. After charging the reset and update worked for me as well.

Alasdair Sim:. It would not update for me either until I charged it fully first. You won't be able to see the battery indicator while it's frozen, but just let it charge for 3 hours or so first, then attempt those steps as described.
